NOTHING LASTS FOREVER

Today I found out that my job will come to an end in January. There's nothing wrong with my job performance, my reviews are all top notch. I've merely become the latest victim of the shrinking global economy. The economy is recovering we're told. But the jobs aren't coming back.

I will of course get a chance to reapply for a "new position" not with my station, but with the larger Gannett TV group--which lucky for me is going to be based here in Denver at my station. I am cautiously optimistic. I will apply. But it still stings a little. And the absurdity of reapplying for a job that offers you five times as much work at little or no extra pay need not be commented upon here. Wish me luck.

My Favorite TV Promo of the Day

"John Elway has tips for how you can help recognize terrorists!" -- from Denver's Channel 4

Right after he pitches Game 3 for the Rockies against Philadelphia, finds a cure for the common cold and lays his healing hands upon the lepers. Yeah, right!

Denver Beats Dallas. Hold Your Horses

The Broncos are 4-0, which makes no sense to me, but I am quite pleased. But if they want to keep all the good vibrations going, remember this: the next five games (sandwiched around a bye) are New England (3-1), at San Diego (2-2), Indianapolis (4-0), at Baltimore (3-1) and Pittsburgh (2-2). Going 2-3 would set up the Broncos very nicely for a playoff run, but we shouldn't expect it.

Peace...
