THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE IS NOT CHOOSING TO BE FREE...

In response to my post yesterday about the Movie Poop game, the inimitable Dr. Z (who I knew would be the first to respond) sent this:

Subject: Regarding your blog post entitled Let's Go Hiking in Iran...
...I give you the following:

The Terminator
The Incredible Hulk
Fargo
The Burbs
The Prestige
Inception
Goldfinger
Thunderball
Moonraker
Goldeneye (yeah, I know I'm on a Bond kick)
Something's Gotta Give
King Kong

Good choices! "Thunderball" and "Something's Gotta Give" in particular had me laughing out loud. Now, how about these?

The Changeling
The Godfather
The Godfather Parts II and III
Dr. Strangelove (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb)
Memento
The Shawshank Redemption (which is actually another suggestion by Chris Hardwicke)
Stand and Deliver
Bring It On
Cast Away
Reservoir Dogs
The Big Lebowski

Unfortunately, I too could do this all day...

More Random Musings

I came home recently and saw Tracy watching the end of an episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians". In this particular episode, the Kardashians, who I like to think of as a modern day version of the Cleavers, find out that when she was underaged, Kourtney had a boyfriend who took naked pictures of her. Somehow, it seems someone has discovered these long discarded pictures and they are trying to sell them to a website. (I think I did see this once on "Mama's Family".) Multiple choice quiz--what do you think the Kardashians learned from this misadventure?

A) It is not good to take naked pictures of yourself if there is any chance someone you don't trust might see them.
B) You should only take naked pictures of yourself if you're 18 or older. Then find a good agent.
C) The FBI is very good at tracking down the perpetrators of child pornography.
D) If you have feelings for a boy, you should talk it over with your big sister before taking naked pictures of yourself.

If you guessed "D", then you are correct. Ahhhhh...I can't wait for the afterschool special!

The Colorado Rockies recent ten game winning streak (and a current stretch where they've won 18 of 24) have vaulted them from about .500 to the thick of both of the NL West and NL Wildcard races. I still think that it will turn out to be too little, too late (losing the home series to the Padres was brutal), but since 2007 no team in baseball has been more interesting to watch in September than the Rockies.

I hadn't been hip to Florence & The Machine before the Video Music Awards (and just when does MTV play these videos that they honor by the way?), but now I can't stop playing them. What a voice! The difference between singers of real talent and charisma and all the pretenders out there is still a stark and obvious one, isn't it?

Peace...
