You know what, I'm an idiot...
You've probably figured this out by now, but sometimes on this little blog of mine I tend to bite off more than I can chew. Then I choke. So it goes with the whole, "one of my favorites of 2010 a day for six weeks" thing. Who am I kidding?
I'll hold off on finishing my picks for The Top Seven Movies of 2010, because I still have some catching up to do and you know how the end of the year is backloaded with "prestige" releases. (Good news Zub, if you're out there, I'm finally watching Scott Pilgrim vs. The World--soon!) But because I try to be a man of my word, here's the rest of my choices that I hadn't gotten to yet, with the exception of the Top Quotes of the Year--I don't know what I was thinking with that category. No one other than The Situation, Zubin and the writers of Modern Family had anything really memorable to say this year (for different reasons) and you know what? I can't remember most of those quotes anyway!
Time to get the TV shows out of the way. All right, here we go:
MY FAVORITE TV SHOWS FROM 2010
7. The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret (IFC)
6. Watch What Happens Live! (Bravo) - can't believe I'm typing this, but this craptastic fest that comes on after all of the Real Housewives shows is actually reinventing the TV talk show for the modern age, using celebrities to comment on the Real Housewives shows in a relaxed setting and to occasionally even act out scenes from the shows. Actors playing real people pretending to be celebrities...it doesn't get more Meta than that!
5. Damages (FX)
4. Friday Night Lights (DirecTV/NBC) - one year to go. It will be missed. Last season was fantastic.
3. The Good Wife (CBS) - The only show on TV about which I can honestly say it gets better almost every episode. The current season which started in September has had some of the best legal plotlines since the heyday of The Practice.
2. Modern Family (ABC) - My favorite TV comedy with a guarantee of at least two belly laughs every week. Great characters.
1. Mad Men (AMC) - The show can't go on forever...it wouldn't work being set in the 70s and we're headed there fast, but right now there is no richer, more layered show on television.
Honorable Mention: Boardwalk Empire (HBO), Top Chef (Bravo), The Big Bang Theory (CBS).
Peace...
