Coming at ya' like Clark Griswold only Anthony Michael Hall is nowhere to be found...
You know it's a weird Christmas holiday when on the night of your birthday you find yourself eating in the House of Blues in Las Vegas and YOUR WIFE is the one who can't take her eyes off of the go-go dancers who have mysteriously materialized by the blackjack tables on the casino floor.
"Look at them," Tracy says to me, "I don't think their bikini bottoms fit properly. They keep having to pull them up while they dance."
Me, working very hard to NOT look says, "I think that's the general idea honey."
Ho ho ho...
---------------------
I know this is very politically incorrect, but why are there so many Asians--particularly Chinese--who like to gamble? On Christmas Day in Las Vegas I would say easily 3 out of every 4 people on The Strip were Asian, many of whom (from what little I could tell) speaking Chinese. I get that on Christmas Day you're not going to get a lot of Christians partying hearty on the streets of Las Vegas, but this percentage I must admit surprised me.
But this is a constant thing the times I've been to Vegas and over the last few years the preponderance of Asian tourists in Las Vegas has only increased. Is it the growth of the Asian economies over the last several years, especially in China, Korea and Singapore? Has there been a proportional decline in the number of American visitors to Vegas over the same time period? I don't know the answers and I'm certainly not bothered by it, but it is one of those things you notice. You know, like you always notice a white cornerback in the NFL or the straight guy at a Lady GaGa concert. If anybody has a theory or the answer, I'd love to hear it.
------------------------
All in all, I had a great time although I'm not sure I'm ready for another Las Vegas trip any time soon--after all, to my shock I've been there four times in the last three years! My advice for all you Vegas travellers: don't tip the go go dancers on the casino floor, if you have to choose between penny slots and a low stakes game of blackjack choose the blackjack and don't down your cocktails in threes.
Peace...
