SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
Rapid Fire
The above picture is me after absorbing 1000 volts from a vicious taser attack. What?! That didn't happen? Okay...it is actually part of a "70's outfit" I put together for this fall's 9 Cares Colorado Shares food and clothing drive. For the first time this year, I was a co-site coordinator, which meant I got to crack a whip and throw tomatoes at the Rangeview High School volunteers. What?! That's not true either? No...it's not true. But it was fun, despite a wet, soaking snow and temperatures around 30 degrees. It never ceases to amaze me all the people who come out and bring cars full of clothes, canned goods and toys--and even food for the volunteers! (To the lady who brought the six loaves of awesome pumpkin bread...you were a God send! :-) It was another successful year and all of the volunteers, ARC staff and those who donated should be proud.
Now, on to other random musings from the top of my head:
--Is Taylor Swift the world's most perfect 19-year old entertainer or have I just bought into the hype? I'll never download any of her songs (at least I think I won't), but she seems intelligent, driven, reasonably talented, earnest and well-behaved. In other words, the anti-Britney.
--The CU Buffaloes football team is in utter disarray. You can't pin all of the blame on head coach Dan Hawkins, but the gap between the potential and enthusiasm he brought to Boulder when he was hired and the sorry state of the program now, just three years later, is stunning and disheartening. The problem is, there is no easy replacement out there who can necessarily make everything better.
--I'm not a big college football guy, but from what I've seen, TCU head coach Gary Patterson is the best college football coach in America. You can quote me on that.
--Tracy and I are going to see U2 at Invesco Field in June!! Can't wait!
--There are some conservative evangelical wingnuts who are secretly (or not so secretly) rooting for Israel to bomb Iran's nuclear weapons facilities, kicking off a Middle East war that could a) potentially embarrass President Obama and b) start a chain reaction of events that could bring about "the Rapture". The only thing more depressing than living as if the apocalypse is right around the corner is trying to bring about that apocalypse to validate your own twisted ideology. The goal of all human beings on planet Earth should be...
...Peace.
