I'm back bitches!! This will be a quick blast because I'm still on wifely caretaker duty and, to be totally honest, I'm also trying to follow tonight's big Spurs-Nuggets tilt.
One Hell of A Fourth Quarter, But Best Super Bowl Ever?
Congrats to the Steel Curtain for winning their sixth Super Bowl in history. Six world championships in 34 years is pretty amazing until you remember that the Pittsburgh Steelers had zero championships (and not many more playoff appearances) in their first 45-odd years of existence. I guess things have a way of evening out, right? I came away more impressed by the Arizona Cardinals (no championships in 61 years and counting) and their never-say-die effort. And repeat after me, "Larry Fitzgerald is the best player in the NFL." There, that wasn't so hard, was it?
But all the sportswriters falling all over themselves to call this the best Super Bowl ever? Sorry - no sale! Try and remember one significant or interesting play from the third quarter? Or, aside from that unbelievable interception return by James Harrison, remember anything else that happened in the second quarter? The fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIII was everything that's great about American professional football. The first three quarters was a penalty-ridden, one-sided mess. Let's keep it real and avoid the hagiography.
My thanks to the kind and attentive staff at Rose Medical Center in Denver for taking such good care of Tracy during her hysterectomy (except for that one nurse. You know who you are. You will get no love!) And to any of the readers of this blog who have sent good thoughts, my thanks for those as well. Please keep them coming.
Peace...
