So I'm at The Men's Wearhouse in Woodland Hills, getting tuxedo measurements for my upcoming nuptuals, and the sales clerk, who I'll call "John" is taking my information, being cordial, polite, helpful and interested. He says casually, "You know, you'll get a better fit if you buy the tuxedo." I'm thinking, yeah I'll spend $250 on clothing I don't like that much and don't plan to wear again. What am I, the bride? I say politely, "No thanks, I'll stick with the rental package." Suddenly, it's like a light switch went off..."John" is suddenly talking to other customers, ignoring my questions, fawning my sale off to the assistant sales girl. He doesn't even say goodbye. I thought we had a special connection. If I'm not willing to give up the filthy lucre, then I don't get the happy ending...
In 1975 a group of neoconservative strategists (with White House chief of staff Donald Rumsfeld as one of its key members), secretly lays out a plan for American domination of the Middle East and control of the oil resources within. The key components of this strategy involved having puppet governments in Iraq and Iran and stable allies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The neocons bide their time. Thirty-plus years later, the United States has defended Kuwait, invaded Iraq and plans to bomb Iran. The price of oil is way up. Their handpicked president, George W. Bush, frames it all in the guise of the War on Terror and protecting the world from the proliferation of nuclear weapons. Amazing how he can say that with a straight face while he's on his knees with Cheney the Dick in his mouth...
They say prostitution is the oldest profession and that everybody has a price. These are two examples of this from completely different situations with totally different stakes. Some days I wonder, where is the integrity in this world? Its there all around us I know, but it's awfully hard to see sometimes. And we all wind up paying the ultimate price.
