MORE BORAT, LESS H.I.V.

Surprise! I'm back sooner than expected because two items caught my eye in the news: one was this tidbit about a sudden AIDS/HIV crisis in Kazakhstan and the other was the "controversy" about how pissed off the Kazakhstan government is about the upcoming Borat movie which was the sensation of the Toronto Film Festival. Apparently, the government filed an official protest with the film's producers, saying that the over-the-top characterization of the supposedly Kazakh Borat was offensive to the Kazakhstani people and the nation as a whole.

What's more offensive? Having a health care system so corrupt that hospitals must deal in black market, HIV-tainted blood, which winds up infecting 63 or more of your most vulnerable citizens.

It's called priorities people. Look it up.

From Anonymous#1, a regular contributor, in response to my review of HEROES.:

"One thing Heroes has going for it is a guy named Jeph Loeb. He was the creative consultant on Smallville from Season 1 until the last 2 years when he was working on a show called LOST. He is also one of the top comic book writers (along with Joss Whedon, J.Michael Straczynski and Frank Miller) working today. I would be more than happy to provide you with some of Mr.Loeb's work in comics!"

I may take you up on that my good sir and I am a fan of both LOST and HEROES (so far). By the way, a mea culpa--I was completely wrong, at least at first, about how well this show would do. Monday's premiere won it's time slot hands down, so maybe the show has a chance.

From Anonymous #2, a general comment:

"Successful people do. Less successful people blog about more successful people."

R: No. It should be, "creative people who want to share their creativity with the world blog. Dullards who watch TV and scratch themselves don't. And the real idiots? The ones who complain about other people's blogs."

So there. Peace...
